Linguistics is a scientific discipline that is concerned with the study of the characteristics, functioning, structure, and evolution of human language. The Swiss linguist Ferdinand de Saussure is considered by many as the founding father of contemporary linguistics. With his book "Course in General Linguistics", which is considered as a classic in the field of linguistics, he made a significant contribution to the introduction of linguistics as a field of scientific study.
This course is entitled “Linguistics”. Like any other scientific discipline, linguistics has a certain number of fields. This course introduces some of these areas.
This course is divided into learning units that will allow the students to understand the key terms related to each field.
