Water supplied to the consumer through the distribution network must be treated, whatever its use. Water delivered to the tap must be potable, i.e. all the quality parameters listed below must comply with those defined by current regulations, known as potability standards. Not all countries in the world apply the same standards, depending on the availability of resources. Some set their own standards. Others adopt or refer to those recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).
