Contemporary British fiction is taught for Master 2 students, who are studying Literature and Interdisciplinary Approaches. This course aims first to introduce postmodernism and its main tenets to Master students. This course is divided into three chapters, which are multiculturalism, dystopian literature and ecocriticism. The first chapter attempts to define multiculturalism and explain its main concepts, which are racism, hybridity, belonging and integration within the British culture. The second chapter aims to explain dystopian literature and science fiction to show humans' fear of technology. It introduces writers' expectations of technological advancement in people's lives in an imaginative world. The last chapter revolves around ecocriticism, which discusses humans' abuse and exploitation of the natural world because they think that nature is inferior and a passive entity. This chapter focuses on writers' representation of humans' relationship with the natural world.
