This is a course addressed to Bachelor’s students of Arabic-English-French Translation, but it can also serve students from other translation specialties. It is about the most influential approaches and theories falling within Translation Studies. It is mainly concerned with theoretical translation studies and does not place emphasis on applied translation studies, as it presents the principles, stages and methods that are likely to be adopted during the translation process. It is, therefore, designed to guide translation students and help them overcome the linguistic, stylistic and cultural barriers encountered while translating. However, the course does not serve as a set of magic recipes that can help them deliver successful translations, as many factors come into play in the translation process.
